I was banned for using third party programs 2 weeks ago. Of course, I didn't use any... After sending (polite but firm) tickets asking the reason, my account was back 3 days later...

If you're innocent, they'll unban your account after checking it...

no one presents the full truth if they are indeed guilty of what anet says they are guilty of...so all we can do is accept your word that you haven't done anything wrong...and present advice on how to get unbanned.

Bans for inappropriate language are only permanent if you have been temp banned for that before (or if you had another serious mark on your account...such as scamming or something)....and if so...you should have learned your lesson the first time.

This sounds like a mistake ban though from what has been posted...so follow the advice people have posted...if they refuse to reactivate your account then and only then should you purchase a new copy...sometimes it can be difficult getting them to reactivate it...persistence is the key....good luck getting your account reactivated.

Just to be safe, I'd wait a few days before making any new purchases. If you were truly "banned" and not "temporarily blocked" (Gaile's words), you will have been banned from the game COMPLETELY. That means that unless you get written permission, you aren't allowed access to the servers at all... not on a friends account... not on a new one. No Access.

If I were you I'd wait and see what the support team has to say, and read the "banning" terms carefully... You might have access to your account again within the next few days.

If this is the case, it was more likely just a temp ban (72 hours or so), and then only if you were swearing up and down in Local/All chat. Gaile said elsewhere that they don't ban for swearing in whispers and guild chat, unless you are intentionally being abussive and others complained.

support can be slow to give you an answer you can use. Just stick with it and you'll get there... so long as you weren't using a bot or some other perma-ban worthy offense.

But from our point of view, there is absolutely nothing the forum members can do. A-Net won't share any info about rules infractions by individual players due to privacy laws. So you can say you didn't break the rules here till you are blue in the face, A-Net can't contradict you publically with details, and so we can't see both sides of the story.

Heck, this all started today. At least give support 24 hours to sort it out... 48 would be more reasonable considering the fit that's hit the shan lately.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm....

Either

A) this really was just a mistake, in which case just give it a few days and Anet will clear it up (be patient and polite, they're hella swamped right now after the "great dupe fiasco") They have a very good track record of fixing mistakes as many here can tell ya.

or

B) there's something you aren't telling us. To be kind, maybe you aren't aware of it. Generally there's something though, they don't just get some weird twitchy finger to ban lol.

Either way Anet usually gets more specific with what the infraction was when you're emailing from what I've seen.

Note to the OP don't pester support the more tickets you send to them the more they start to ignore you. Also what type of ban 1 hour, 72 hour, or permanent ban?

Yer just get a support ticket sent off asking why where you banned and that you think it is un-justified. They should reply back quite quickly.

You have read the EULA? maybe you then know that you did something that is in violation of the EULA. Maybe you could then say you know you were banned unrightfully instead of feeling like that. Maybe you did something against it that you werent aware of as being a violation of the EULA?

Like suggested above, did you buy loads of duped items during the dupe crash? Then yes, you got banned since you bought a smelly product. You farm alot? Care to explain on the situation a bit?

My brother was mistakenly banned a short while ago. He submitted an e-mail to ANET Support and prompty replied to the initial automated e-mail sent by their systems and every response thereafter. His account was unbanned in under a few hours tops.

I never can get this. they sometimes ban the innocent, and ignore the guilty.

Just please answer this, were you farming during the 20 hours?

I really can't think of anything other then buying duped items by the bushels that would get a perma ban. except for buying gold.

I'm not picking on the OP personally, but I'm sick of seeing people post about them being banned on here.

I got banned about a month ago for the same thing ( code=045) , but I didn't go in here and post about it.

I simply sent a ticket to anet, followed thier instructions, and in less than 2 days got my account back.

Accidently bannings do happen. And thats what happened to me and many others.

But I don't see any logic in posting about it.

If one did send a ticket knowing they did nothing wrong, and still remained banned after anet researched it, then I'd find that an interesting topic.

But yes, just because you got banned and have yet to contact anet about it isn't anything new around here.
